Why Edit Audio in the Browser in 2026?
Voice memos, podcast dialogue, social clips, ringtones, and class recordings often need one cut, less silence, or more consistent loudness — without installing a DAW first. MeTool's Online Audio Editor decodes and draws waveforms entirely in the browser: no install, open the page and go.
Unlike tools that hide automation until after upload, you can pick an automatic step before you upload: smart trim silence (keep speech in multiple clips), trim silence at the start and end only, or peak normalization. It runs once right after decode so you see results immediately. Need finer thresholds? Expand Silence Detection and tune parameters.
Processing stays local; audio files are not uploaded to our servers — suitable for unreleased or sensitive material.
What MeTool Online Audio Editor Offers
Optional post-upload actions
Use pill buttons under the upload area: Edit only, Trim silence, Trim ends, or Peak normalize. The selection applies automatically after decode; the same controls appear again in the editor for repeat runs.
Waveform & multiple clips
Drag to select regions to keep; add several clips and manage them in the list with seek and preview. Desktop drag selection; mobile selection handles.
Fades & volume line
Per-clip fade handles for smooth starts/ends; a visual volume line adjusts playback level (reflected on export).
Silence detection (tunable)
Expand to set threshold, minimum silence, and padding — great for refining after a one-click pass.
Export MP3 / WAV
Merges current clips; choose MP3 bitrate or lossless WAV for archiving or further editing.
Suggested Workflow: Upload to Finished File
- Choose automation: Long dead air → try Smart trim silence; only leading/trailing silence → Trim ends; overall too quiet → Peak normalize. Manual-only work → Edit only.
- Upload & decode: If automation is on, selections or normalized audio appear as soon as loading finishes.
- Review the waveform: Zoom, play back, and listen to each clip.
- Fine-tune: Drag clip edges, fades, and volume; re-run Silence Detection with custom settings if needed.
- Preview & export: Use Preview all segments, pick MP3 or WAV, then download.
